Tag der Informatik
What is Tag der Informatik?
On this day, the KIT faculty traditionally bids farewell to all graduates of the bachelor's and master's degree programs in informatics, information systems and information management, as well as to those who have completed their doctorates. In addition, the best graduates are honored with prizes and the most popular courses of the past academic year are awarded. In addition, Tag der Informatik is always an occasion for all members of the faculty to come together, look back on the past academic year, and look forward together. The event is followed by a festive reception, which is usually followed by a big faculty party, organized by the Fachschaft Mathe/Informatik and the Forum Wirtschaftsinformatik e.V..
When does the Tag der Informatik take place?
The graduation farewell ceremony will take place on July 28, 2023.
Who comes to the Tag der Informatik?
An invitation with a flyer to the Tag der Informatik is sent to about 600 graduates and doctoral students each year. In recent years, we have said goodbye to about 150 bachelor's and master's students and about 20 doctoral graduates at Tag der Informatik, about half of whom are starting their careers. In addition to the families, employees, professors and some external visitors are among the approximately 600 guests.
Where does the Tag der Informatik take place?
The Day of Computer Science takes place in the largest and most representative lecture hall of KIT, the Audimax. The Audimax seats about 730 people and is equipped with state-of-the-art presentation technology. The subsequent reception with catering takes place in the foyer of the Audimax, the faculty party starts afterwards on the forecourt (outdoor).

The Bundeswettbewerb Informatik was established in 1980 and is aimed at young people up to the age of 21 who are still in education at a German school. The competition lasts about one year and consists of three rounds. Every year, about 1500 students take part. The competition is under the patronage of the German President and is supported by the Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI), among others.
The 30 best participants then compete in the finals for the national prize, which is usually associated with admission to the German National Academic Foundation.
When and where will the final take place?
The final will be held from September 12 to 15 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
Who will take part in the final?
The finals will focus on the 30 best participants of this year's national competition. The students come from all over Germany. In addition, each participant may bring a teacher as an accompanying person.
In addition, the final will be attended by a high-ranking jury of experts. This jury is made up of computer scientists from universities throughout Germany who will be involved in all four days of the finals.
