Battery Storage for Communities

The Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program is a newly established research group at the Australian National University. Our diverse research program is investigating the development, integration, and operation of energy storage in electricity grids globally.

In this talk, I will discuss recent work where we are investigating community solar and battery storage, from both a technical and policy point-of-view.  Community energy models are expected to support the increased penetration of renewable generation, reduce electricity costs, and provide a way for more people to access the benefits of renewable generation and energy storage, including renters, apartment-dwellers and those on low incomes.  For these and many other reasons, community energy models may be important in providing energy and stability for the next-generation electricity grid
