interACT was established in 2004, initially as cooperation between Carnegie Mellon University and University of Karlsruhe, it has since expanded to include eight leading research Universities and Research and Deveolpment labs in major regional economies of the world. The eight current members are:

  • Italian Institute of Technology (Italy)

  • Carnegie Mellon University (USA, Pittsburgh & Silicon Valley)

  • Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong, China)

  • National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (Japan)
  • Nara Institute of Science and Technology (Japan)

interACT has a dual mission:

  • Advanced research on technologies that support and facilitate global communication, cooperation and exchange.
  • Training and education of scientists, faculty and students in an environment of scientific excellence. interACT supports students via the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, Germany and via the partners., Application for KIT-students via the interACT-office at KIT (Bldg. 50.20, room 233, Adenauerring 2)
