Internal transition from Bachelor's to Master's program at KIT
In the event of a KIT internal change of the study program or, in this case, a continuation of the studies by following the Master consecutive degree, the following procedure must be followed:
-
Re-registration for the next semester in the Bachelor's degree program (as a precaution in case the Bachelor's studies are not completed on time due to unforeseen reasons, thus ensuring uninterrupted student status). The semester fee must then only be paid at the time of re-registration and not again at the time of transfer (i.e. for the new study program).
-
Application for the Master's degree program (or another study program at KIT). The application must be submitted online before the deadline. The status of the application can be viewed online at any time. Once an admission letter has been issued, students have to accept the offer by pressing the "Apply for enrolment" button.
-
All exams of the Bachelor's study program must be completed till the end of the term. Proof that the Bachelor's studies have been completed must be submitted until the deadline indicated in the admission letter. Students may apply for an extension online as part of the application process. The maximum extenuation can be no longer than 2 months after the start of the semester. This deadline is for the submission of the necessary documents and has nothing to do with the deadline for taking exams or submitting the Bachelor's thesis.
-
Students who have re-registered have continuous student status. If they have not re-registered or were unable to re-register due to reaching the maximum number of semesters, they do not have student status until they have enrolled into the Master's (or the new) study program.
-
If grading of some exams necessary for completing the study program is not finalized by the end of the term, attestations for “at least passed” must be submitted to the ISS Informatics Study Program Service in good time. In the case of final theses, the chair must enter "at least passed" in CAS. The ISS will check the correctness of the data regarding the thesis and then approve the entry. The certificate of title will be automated generated in CAS. The complete transcript of records and/or the certificate of title must then be uploaded to the application. These two documents are proof of completion of the Bachelor's study program.
-
The transfer to the Master's degree program is carried out by the Student Service as soon as the application data has been verified.
-
Upon completion of the Bachelor's degree program, a proper de-registration procedure is required (see de-registration). The student status remains uninterrupted ( if the end of term is given as de-registration date) and there are no disadvantages. After admission to the new study program has been granted, the application for de-registration must be uploaded to application for the study program within the deadline specified in the letter of admission. Please do not submit it by email or in paper form to Student Service! The "re-registration" to the new study program will only take place, if all required documents have been submitted on time.
-
Registration for final exams of the Bachelor's program or for Master's transfer account credits: All exams must be registered for and completed by the end of term.
