Formalities and Leave of absence

During a period of study abroad, the number of semesters will continue to be counted and the entitlement to examinations will be maintained. The student union and administration fee must also be paid. We therefore recommend that you take a leave of absence during your studies abroad.

A semester abroad with leave ob absence must be registered with Student Services before re-registration for the next semester. A confirmation from the International Office or the admission or enrollment certificate from the foreign university must be submitted as proof.

One or, if necessary, two semesters of leave of absence can be taken (e.g. for a stay abroad). The number of semesters completed is suspended during a semester of leave and is not counted.

The application for the first semester can be submitted before the start of the semester abroad. The second application can be submitted by e-mail to the responsible person in Student Services by the deadline stated on the application.

During a leave of absence students may take exams a KIT, but are not allowed to work on their final theses!
