Graduation documents
Graduation documents are:
- Certificate and diploma (bilingual German and English)
- Transcript of Records (in German and English)
- Diploma Supplements (DS example in German; DS example in English)
Requirements for obtaining the graduation documents:
The graduation documents can only be finalized and handed out once the individual study plan has been marked with “passed” and a proper de-registration (in German Exmatrikulation) has been carried out.
The mark “passed” will appear in CMS system (in the student portal) on the individual study plan, if the student has passed all necessary exams required for the respective degree and all grades have been recorded in the CMS system. The final grade will automatically appear on the individual study plan, as soon as the last grade has been recorded.
Students should make sure they fulfill all requirements for obtaining the degree. We advise students to check their individual study plan best before starting the final thesis. All areas in the individual study plan should be marked as passed, the number of credits of the degree should be achieved and all further requirements stipulated in the module handbook (e.g. number of advanced mandatory modules) should be fulfilled.
Particularity for students enrolled in the informatics and informatics teachers training study programs: The final grade can only be published once ISS has received the document containing the review of the final thesis (see also final thesis).
De-registration or Exmatriculation (In German Exmatrikulation)
Please note the differences between de-registering when transferring from a Bachelor's to a Master's degree program and de-registering at the end of your studies (see also de-registration).
Current address
The degree certificate and diploma can either be sent by post or personally collected from SLE on site (depending on what you have indicated on the application for de-registration). Therefore, please check the correctness of the address you have entered in the student portal and update it if necessary.
Procedure after an overall “pass” for the individual study program has been achieved
Students receive an e-mail from SLE. In this e-mail, students will be asked to contact the Team Graduation Documents (abschlusszeugnis ∂does-not-exist.sle kit edu) within two weeks if additional achievements are to be shown on the certificate. If you are planning to take further exams (additional or Master's transfer account), you must also contact this team within the specified period. In this case, please note that you must remain enrolled until you have completed all planed exams.
The graduation documents will only be issued after the above-mentioned deadline or after clarification of your study plan.
Until the graduation documents are finalized, you can access the certificate of graduation, which will then be available for download in the certificates section of the study portal. The graduation documents will only be handed out, if a proper de-registration has been carried out. The proper de-registration can be carried out in advanced (e.g. in December with effect as of March) You can find the relevant form here: https://www.sle.kit.edu/english/imstudium/715.php
Please note: As soon as you reached the number of credits needed for graduation, you may not apply for changes (e.g. transfer of modules from one area to another) of your individual study plan anymore.
