Second repetition and conditional account
The final failure of an exam invalidates the right to take exams in the degree program. Participation in further exams is therefore excluded. Exceptions are exams for which students have already registered. At the end of the current semester, de-registration takes place ex officio in the event of final failure.
In such cases, an application for a second retake can be submitted. The application must be submitted using this online form. The following information and documents must be uploaded to the portal:
-
a statement of reasons
-
Data on all exam attempts of the final failed exam (date of first date, date of second date, date of oral re-exam if applicable)
-
as well as the current grade transcript (passed, failed and registered coursework and exams)
The responsible examination board decides on the first application for a second retake, in the event of a rejection the President. In the case of subsequent applications for a second retake, the responsible examination board forwards the application with a recommendation to the President, who then makes the final decision.
The second repeat exam must be taken no later than the next but one exam date following receipt of the approval.
Applications for a third resit are excluded!
Conditional account
If an application for a second retake is approved after the final failure of an exam, further exams can be taken under reserve. These must be registered manually via the Informatics Study Program Services and are recorded in a conditional account. These achievements will only be credited once the entitlement to take the exam has been restored, i.e. once the exam that was definitively failed has been passed as part of the second resit.
If the exam entitlement is regained after a second repetition (i.e. the failed exam is passed), students must inform the Informatics Study Program Services so that the credits earned can be transferred from the conditional account to the online account.
In the event of a change of degree program or university before the exam entitlement is restored, the exam achievements in the conditional account are not documented and are not listed in the transcript of records.
Re-registration
As long as the final failed exam has not been passed as part of the second repetition, re-registration for the next semester must be carried out manually (students must present the approval of the second repetition) in Student Services. Exam registrations are done manually via the ISS. To do this, students must first select the module and then send an email to ISS to register.
