Deadlines / Deadline extension / Special regulations (Corona pandemic)
Deadlines
During your studies, you will encounter various deadlines that must be kept.
Details on registering for and de-registering from exams and for repeating exams can be found under Exams.
Application deadlines
The application deadlines can be found on the KIT Student Services website and on the website of the KIT Department of Informatics.
Deadlines at the end of the term and end of the exam period
The winter term and the corresponding exam period begin on October 1st and end on March 31st. The summer term and the corresponding exam period begin on April 1st and end on September 30th. See also: Overview of dates and deadlines at KIT.
Re-registration
In order to be successfully enrolled in the following term, you must re-register in good time (each term). The deadlines for re-registration for both the winter and summer terms can be found in the overview of dates and deadlines at KIT at KIT. If you have already reached the maximum period of study, you must apply for an extension before re-registering. The processing of the application takes about 14 days.
Deadline extension
The examination board of the respective study program decides on the following deadline extensions:
Extension of the study period
If students have not completed their studies by the end of the 9th term in the Bachelor's study program or by the end of the 7th semester in the Master's study program, they will no right to take further exams. The examination board may extend the maximum study period by one semester, if only a few exams are still outstanding and the student provides good reasons for not completing his or her studies. An application for an extension of the study period can be submitted using the corresponding online form (see also re-enrollement). The following documents must be uploaded to the portal: Proof of the stated reasons (certificates, attestations, etc.), proof of registered exams, transcript of grades (passed, failed and registered exams) and a plan containing all outstanding exams.
Extension of the deadline for taking orientation exams
An extension of the deadline for taking the orientation exam can only be applied for if the student can present reasons for which he/she is not responsible or, for example, if the student was placed in a higher semester at the time of enrolment. The application to extend the deadline for orientation exams must be submitted online. Proof for the reasons listed must be uploaded to the portal.
The decision is made by the Bachelor's Examination Board (BPA). Approval is generally only granted in exceptional cases.
Students who can provide proof of participation in the MINT-Kolleg (usually the partial achievement MINT-Kolleg is then marked as passed in the CMS) do not have to apply for an extension of the orientation exam. In the event of problems with re-registration, students must contact Student Services SLE (Building 10.12) in good time before the re-registration deadline, as manual re-registration may be necessary.
roof for the reasons listed must be uploaded to the portal.
Students who have received an extension of the deadline for their studies or for the orientation exam may re-register later than the scheduled deadline.
