Certificates, attestations and statement letters
On the following Student Services information page you will find everything you need to know about the certificates, attestations or statement letters, that KIT issues: https://www.sle.kit.edu/english/imstudium/8140.php .
In addition, you will also find the page with information, e.g. on the administration fee, under the following link. Here all newsletters from the Student Service (not ISS) are published and archived: https://www.sle.kit.edu/english/wirueberuns/8137.php .
Please also note the change in responsibility, previously the Informatics Study Program Service (ISS), now the Business unit Studium und Lehre, for issuing verifications of final documents: https://www.sle.kit.edu/english/nachstudium/6552.php .
Other certificates, statements and attestations may be issued by ISS. Students should send an e-mail (best including a form or at least a proposition letter) stating also the reason for their enquiry.
Status of the individual studies
Upon request, the ISS issues a statement letter on the individual study progress. For this purpose, a current transcript of records and an exam plan (including all not yet passed exams until the finalization of the studies) must be submitted. Students must note the date on which they expect to complete their studies on the transcript of records. Approximately three working days are required to prepare this statement letter.
For example, student residences or the immigration office may ask for such statements
Degree
Upon request, the ISS issues certificates on the status of the degree program and the provisional degree. For this purpose, a current transcript of records and an exam schedule listing the exam schedule up to the completion of the degree program must be submitted. Students must note the date on which they expect to complete their studies on the transcript of records. Approximately 3 working days are required to prepare this certificate.
Example: Certificates for submission to the student residence or the immigration office
Certificate of title
After successful completion of the study program, a certificate, a diploma and a diploma supplement are awarded as proof of the degree or academic title acquired. Until these documents have been issued, students can use the certificate of title as proof of the academic title acquired. A certificate of title is an official certificate that the study program has been successfully completed and the title awarded. The document is available in the student portal in the download area as soon as all grades of at least 4.0 have been entered as passed.
The certificate of title and the current transcript of records are the formal evidence for third parties. The content-related information is thus certified and does not require further signatures or stamps.
A de-registration application is not necessary for this process, but can also be submitted afterwards. Further details can be read here: https://www.sle.kit.edu/english/nachstudium/6552.php
At least passed
"At least passed" MBE (in German “mindestens bestanden”)
The "At least passed" attestation is proof that students have passed (with a grade of at least 4.0) an examination (the final thesis is also an examination). The final grade is still to be established. The responsible examiner may release such an attestation, there is no obligation to do so.
Final theses: The "At least passed" attestation for a final thesis can be entered in Campus Management System by the examinars secretary office as soon as the thesis has been submitted and the presentation has been held, a presentation is required by the module handbook (see also details under final theses).
