Science camps and working groups for young people interested in computer science

This year, the KIT Department of Computer Science and the lehr-Lern-Labor Informatik are once again working together to promote the next generation of STEM students with several programs. In addition to three science camps in summer and fall, the Bits & Bytes AG is aimed at students interested in computer science all year round.

Science Camp Computer Science - getting to know computer science for girls in grades 8 to 10

From September 8 to 12, 2025, the Science Camp Informatik will take place for schoolgirls in grades 8 to 10. In workshops and project work, participants will gain insights into key topics in computer science and learn how versatile and creative the subject can be. Participation is free of charge.

Science Camp MakeIT - develop your own game console

At Science Camp MakeIT, which takes place during the 2025 fall break, students from grade 8 and up develop their own game console - from the hardware to the finished game. Whether with the Makey Makey or the Raspberry Pi Pico: the participants design their own input options and program an individual game. The camp is aimed at both beginners and advanced users.

Bits & Bytes AG - continuous support during the school year

The Bits & Bytes AG is an open, regular offer of the Teaching-Learning-Laboratory Computer Science for students in grades 8-9 (Bits) and from grade 10 (Bytes). In weekly meetings, participants can implement their own projects, try out new technologies and experience computer science together with like-minded people. The working group takes place on Fridays during term time in the computer science teaching and learning lab on Campus South. Registration is possible at any time.
